Two Las Vegas teens killed in rollover crash near Tonopah

Two Las Vegas teens who attended University of Nevada, Reno were killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash near Tonopah, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

NHP troopers were called just before 12:40 a.m. to westbound U.S. Route 6, about 7 miles west of Tonopah, where a white Ford pickup left the road's shoulder and rolled, landing 100 feet from the road's edge, the agency wrote in a release Monday afternoon.

An investigation showed the Ford, driven by 19-year-old Roman Suslov and occupied by 19-year-old Mateo Silva-Medina, was westbound on U.S. 6 when it drifted over the center line of the two-lane highway and into oncoming traffic.

Suslov steered the truck to the right, causing it to rotate clockwise. The pickup continued to rotate and left the roadway, overturning and coming to rest on its roof about 100 feet from the road.

Suslov and Silva-Medina died at the scene of the crash. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, the release said.
