Utah woman sentenced in hit-and-run crash that injured 8 churchgoers

A Utah woman who fled the scene after the vehicle she was driving struck eight people in North Las Vegas in August was sentenced to 3 to 12 years in prison on Tuesday.

Nyakeuth Tear, 18, pleaded guilty in February to one count of leaving the scene of an accident.

The eight people were hit as they were leaving an evangelical service and were returning to their parked cars in front of Iglesia de Cristo, in the 1900 block of Losee Road near Lake Mead Boulevard and Interstate 15.

The crash was captured by an auto repair shop’s surveillance camera. It shows Tear getting out of the car, examining the situation and leaving the scene. No one was killed, but all eight victims were taken to a hospital.
