Pastor Walter “Chick” McGill, a Vietnam veteran, started walking in Kill Devil Hills, N.C., about 200 days ago and he hasn’t stopped.
McGill was in Las Vegas Wednesday and Thursday with an American flag on his shoulder and a salute for passersby, dedicating his effort to the state’s 300,000 veterans.
As he’s crossed the nation, McGill is averaging about 12 miles a day.
McGill is scheduled to reach the final destination on his journey, the Santa Monica Pier in California, on April 29.
