West valley apartment fire sends 1 to hospital, displaces 30
A west valley apartment fire Monday afternoon sent one person to the hospital and displaced 20 adults and 10 children, the Clark County Fire Department said in a statement.
Just before 12:05 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the Woodcreek Apartments located at 4485 Pennwood Ave., near South Arville Street, the release said. Upon arrival, personnel saw smoke coming from the eaves of a two-story apartment complex.
Crews extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes, the release said. Fire and smoke involved eight units. One person was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center. That person’s condition is unknown.
The fire’s cause is under investigation. The American Red Cross was notified to help the occupants of five apartments who were displaced.
Damages have been estimated at $250,000.
