Woman dies following July 2 crash on East Lake Mead Boulevard

A woman is dead after her vehicle was struck more than two weeks ago by a driver suspected of being under the influence.

The crash happened about 1:20 a.m. July 2 on East Lake Mead Boulevard near the intersection with Pecos Road, Las Vegas police said.

Police said Beatrize Gutierrez-Hernandez, 44, was stopped at a red light in a 2006 PT Cruiser when a 2016 Hyundai Sonata driven by Gerald Glenn, 56, failed to stop and rear-ended her car.

Gutierrez-Hernandez died July 15 from injuries she suffered in the crash, police said.

The woman and her three passengers — a 13-year-old boy, 16-year-old girl and 24-year-old woman — were taken to University Medical Center with moderate to serious injuries, police said.

Glenn also was taken to the hospital. He was released July 12 and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on three counts of driving under the influence.

The Las Vegas police fatal detail did not respond to the crash.

This is the 56th traffic-related fatality in the Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2016.
