Inmate convicted in 1995 Washoe County murder dies

A prisoner serving time in a Northern Nevada prison died on Monday, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.
Michael Grendell, 69, died at a Carson City hospital, the department said Tuesday in a news release. He was sent to prison in 1995 for a first-degree murder with a deadly weapon case in Washoe County.
He was serving two consecutive sentences of 120 months to life with the possibility of parole.
Carson City officials are awaiting autopsy results in Grendell's death.
