Pahrump man arrested in death of stepmother
July 25, 2015 - 4:58 pm
A Pahrump man has been charged with murder after police said he admitted killing his stepmother and hiding her body.
Robert Marygold, 59, said Friday that he killed his stepmother with a handgun, according to a prepared statement issued by the Nye County Sheriff's Office on Saturday night.
Police questioned him at their shared residence.
Family members from out of state reported they had not heard form the woman for several days and that strange charges had appeared on her bank account, police said.
As part of a welfare check, police responded to her home and made entry after noticing "an extremely foul odor." They found the woman's body, prompting an investigation.
Marygold also said he made several withdrawals from his stepmother's debit account at a local casino, police said.
