Police warn of caller demanding money on behalf of NV Energy

A man is calling Henderson residents to demand money in the name of NV Energy, police warn.

In a Thursday release, the City of Henderson said several people have received calls from a man threatening to disconnect their power if they don’t make a credit card payment over the phone.

“These are outright scams,” the release said.

The energy company does not solicit payments over the phone. Instead, customers at risk of having their power shot off will receive a 10-day notice, then a 48-hour notice.

“You will not be at risk for immediate termination of services without ample prior notice.”

Customers should call the Henderson Police at 702-267-4750 if they have been contacted in this manner.
