Reno father held in death of 5-year-old found in storage unit

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Authorities have arrested the father of a 5-year-old girl whose body was found in a Sacramento storage unit.

Police say the body was found on Tuesday. Tyler Anderson of Reno, was arrested the next day in Sacramento on suspicion of child neglect causing substantial bodily harm.

Anderson’s wife, Averyauna Anderson, was arrested in Reno on suspicion of child neglect. She isn’t the child’s biological mother.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the couple had attorneys.

KCRA-TV reports that police believe Anderson’s daughter died at the couple’s Reno apartment within the last two weeks and the Andersons rented a vehicle to take her body to California.

Investigators say the girl apparently had been severely neglected but an autopsy will determine the exact cause of her death.
