Cool temps, winds heading for Las Vegas Valley

Cooler, windier weather is wending its way back to the Las Vegas Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

Nighttime low temperatures are expected to drop Sunday, and wind is picking up due to a storm system moving through the western states, meteorologist John Salmen said.

Saturday saw a high temperature of 70 degrees with a low of 58 degrees, the weather service said.

Sunday is expected to have a high of 78 degrees and a low of 51 degrees, with some wind. Winds will pick up by Monday, with speeds from 20 to 30 mph and gusts from 30 to 50 mph.

“There is a high wind watch for Monday, from the afternoon into the evening,” Salmen said.

No heavy precipitation is expected with the wind. However, the valley may get some “light showers, Monday into Tuesday,” Salmen said. The high for Monday is expected to reach 75 degrees, and the low, 57 degrees.

The weather service predicts even cooler temperatures Tuesday, when the high is expected to be 62 degrees and the low, 48 degrees.
