Excessive heat warning today through Wednesday

The Valley will start the week with the hottest day of the year so far and record-breaking temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday reached 110 degrees and marked the start of an excessive heat warning that will last through 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Monday’s 114-degree high will break the 2015 record by one degree, and Tuesday’s forecasted 113-degree high will break the previous record set in 1954 by another two degrees, but the weather service said Tuesday may bring even higher temperatures.

The forecasted high for Wednesday is 111, and with a possible 110-degree high on Thursday and there’s a chance the weather service may extend the excessive heat warning.
