Flash flood watch issued for Clark County

A flash food watch for Clark County will be in effect through Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

A flash flood watch means flooding could occur under the forecasted conditions. It is different from a flash flood warning, which means a flash flood is occurring or eminent.

There’s a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms Sunday, said meteorologist Chris Stachelski.

A storm complex that developed over Kingman, Ariz., might creep into the valley, according to the weather service. However, most of it seemed to be heading toward California on Saturday afternoon.

The flash flood watch will expire 10 p.m. Sunday, but the weather service forecasts a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms on Monday.

Conditions are expected to dry out on Tuesday, Stachelski said.
