Hot, dry weekend before storms return to Las Vegas Valley

Updated July 22, 2017 - 6:24 pm

The Las Vegas Valley will see continued warm and dry weather Sunday, but thunderstorms are possible at the beginning of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday was sunny with a high of 108 degrees, and Sunday’s high is expected to be the same, meteorologist Alex Boothe said.

Sunday afternoon has a 20 percent chance of rain, according to the weather service.

Monday and Tuesday have about 30 percent and 40 percent chances of showers and thunderstorms, respectively. Monday’s high is forecast at 95 degrees and Tuesday’s at 97 degrees, Boothe said.

The chances of thunderstorms will end Wednesday, which will have a high of 100 degrees.

The rest of the week is expected to be dry, with Thursday’s forecast high at 104 degrees and Friday 106 degrees.

Winds will be light unless there are thunderstorms, which can bring strong gusts, Boothe said.
