Las Vegas Valley could hit 100 degrees this week
The Las Vegas Valley could see its first 100-degree day by the end of this week’s rapid warming trend, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday will see a high near 86 degrees and a low in the mid-60s. Skies are expected to be mostly sunny for the remainder of the week and “winds will be pretty calm,” meteorologist Justin Pullin said.
Wednesday will see a high near 88 degrees and Thursday will be in the low 90s, according to the weather service.
“We’ll be pushing 100 by Friday, but the official forecast high is 99 degrees,” Pullin said.
The first 100-degree day is usually seen near May 24, according to the weather service.
With temperatures about 10 to 15 degrees above normal by the end of the week, the National Weather Service would like to remind Las Vegans of some heat safety tips. Pullin says to drink plenty of water before outdoor activities, apply sunscreen because of the high UV index, check home air conditioning systems, have proper accommodations for pets, and make sure your car battery and tires are functioning properly.
