Windy and cool weather for the week ahead

Weather should be windy and much cooler as we head into this next week, the National Weather Service said.

Sunday hit a high of 101 degrees, but temperatures will continue to drop until Thursday, meteorologist John Salmen said.

Monday’s forecast high is 95 degrees, and Tuesday’s high will drop to 90 degrees, he said.

Breezes will be strong Monday and gusts will hit 35 to 40 mph on Tuesday as a low-pressure system moves over the Las Vegas Valley.

Wednesday’s forecast high is 88 degrees. The valley hasn’t seen a day below 90 degrees since early August, Salmen said.

Temperatures should begin to rise again at the end of the week, with a 91-degree high forecast for Thursday and 93 degrees forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Sept. 16 is, on average, the last 100-degree day in Las Vegas, according to the Weather Service.
