Aggies score four in 10th to take Steven Janvrin title at Blazer Bash

“We got a couple nice hits and we were able to capitalize on a couple mistakes,” Arbor View coach Jay Guest said.

The Aggies scored thee runs in the sixth to take an 8-6 lead, but Niko Decolati’s two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh forced extra innings.

Arbor View took a 9-8 lead in the eighth, but the Spartans again tied the game in the bottom of the inning.

“The kids are competing,” Guest said. “It was a championship game, and neither team wanted to lose. Luckily w were able to put up a four spot at the end and get it done.”

Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs for the Aggies, who had 21 hits.

Nick Quintana doubled and homered, and Urban and Gallagher each had three hits. Urban also drove in three runs, and Gallagher had two RBIs.

Ryan Brown threw two hitless innings of relief with two strikeouts to earn the win.

“We grew up a lot this week,” Guest said. “We’re starting to find our own identity now, and finally starting to buy into what we’re trying to teach them. We’ve come a long way these past two weeks, especially in this tournament.

“Now we go back to our league and build on what we did and continue to play tough, Aggie baseball. If we play like we have these last two weeks, we’ve got a pretty good chance to do some damage and make some noise at the end.”

Cimarron’s Decolati went 3-for-4 with a triple, a homer, two runs and three RBIs.

Arbor View 7, Centennial 6 — At Durango, Gabe Gonzalez’s RBI single in the top of the seventh plated Kevin Johns with the go-ahead run as the Aggies rallied past the Bulldogs in a semifinal.
