Roundup: Taylor Darden leads Coronado to win

Taylor Darden was 2-for-4 with three RBIs as Coronado’s baseball team rolled past Huntsville (Ala.) in the National Classic in Bradenton, Florida, on Tuesday.

Jake McLean added a home run, and Braeden Ewing drove in two runs for the Cougars.

Ethan Stevens was 2-for-3 with two runs for Coronado.

Lions Tournament

Clackamas (Ore.) 4, Bishop Gorman 3 — At San Diego, Kale Zehr scored on Cole Hegar’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th and the Cavaliers edged the Gaels.

Clackamas took a 3-1 lead in the top of the ninth, but the Gaels got a two-run homer from Ryan Sepede in the bottom of the inning to tie it.

Carson Wells went 3-for-4 with a double, and Austin Wells was 1-for-1 with a double, a run and four walks for Gorman.

Gorman starter Parker Aquino allowed a run on five hits in 7⅔ innings.

Desert Oasis 3, Carlsbad (Calif.) 2 — At San Diego, Izzy Gutierrez drove in the winning run with a sacrifice as the Diamondbacks edged the Lancers in 10 innings.

Cole Schaefer drove in the tying run for Desert Oasis on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Palo Verde 10, Christian United (Calif.) 1 — At El Cajon, California, Jaret Godman was 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and four RBIs as the Panthers pounded the Patriots.

Peyton Cole homered and scored four times with three RBIs for the Panthers, and Bryce Robison threw five innings and allowed an unearned run with eight strikeouts to get the win.

Robison also doubled for Palo Verde.

Westlake (Calif.) 4, Green Valley 3 — At San Diego, the Gators built an early three-run lead, but surrendered three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to fall to the Warriors.

Gavin Malcolm was 4-for-4 for Green Valley, and starter Chris Clark threw five scoreless innings.

Orange Glen (Calif.) 12, Sunrise Mountain 10 — At Escondido, California, Jose Bolano had three RBIs, but the Miners fell to the Patriots.

The Miners led 8-0 after the top of the third inning, but Orange Glen scored six in the fourth and four in the sixth to take the lead.

Angel Mora, Dominick Corral and Jaycob Campbell each doubled for the Miners.

Rancho 8, Otay Ranch (Calif.) 1 — At Chula Vista, California, Tanner Ray went the distance, allowing six hits and fanning four, to lead the Rams over the Panthers.

Layton Walls had a double, three RBIs and a run for the Rams, and teammate Anthony Guzman doubled.

Chayse Baker and Jimmy Gamboa each scored twice for Rancho.

Ramona (Calif.) 2, Liberty 0 — At Ramona, California, Bryce Roe allowed just two hits and struck out 11 in 6⅔ innings to help the Bulldogs defeat the Patriots in the Lions Tournament.

Ramona scored the only runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Dylan San Nicolas and Ethan Safier collected Liberty’s hits.

Poway (Calif.) 17, Silverado 1 — At Poway, California, Dax Fellows had an RBI single in the Skyhawks’ loss to the Titans in the Lions Tournament.

Grizzly Invitational

Bonanza 11, Pahrump Valley 6 — At Bonanza, Josh Jaglarski went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Bengals past the Trojans.

Matthew Cox added added a double and three RBIs, and Orbien Hernandez-Silva, Makai DeSoto, Julien DeLeon and Yankiel Gonazalez each had two hits for Bonanza, whihc led 10-0 after three innings.

Nico Velazquez was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for Pahrump.

Spring Valley 14, Legacy 0 — At Spring Valley, Chaysn Love threw a complete game for the Grizzlies in their five-inning win against the Longhorns in the Grizzly Invitational.

Jonathan Bakken was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs for the Grizzlies, and Erik Dulittle was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

Spring Valley’s Ryan Steinhauer tripled, and Kade Higgins doubled for the Grizzlies.

Foothill 7, Boulder City 0 — At Spring Valley, starter Andrew Hauck allowed one hit and struck out 11 in six scoreless innings to help the Falcons shut out the Eagles.

Gage Streit went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Foothill, and teammate Tyler Kara went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI.

Teddy Lobkowicz was 2-for-3 for Boulder City.

Foothill 13, Legacy 8 — At Spring Valley, Eric Vaccaro was 1-for-2 with a double and four RBIs, and Vinny Vaccaro went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, to help the Falcons defeat the Longhorns.

Jake Perales was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Foothill.

Fabian Torres was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Legacy.
