SMALL-SCHOOL BASEBALL: Lynx make most of four hits to advance to Division III title game

Nick Vincent went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and host Lincoln County’s baseball team made the most of four hits to down The Meadows, 7-4, in the winners’ bracket final of the Division III Southern League tournament on Friday.

The Lynx (19-6) will face Needles (15-14) in the title game at 10 a.m. Saturday. Both teams advance to next week’s state tournament.

Mike Wood was 1-for-4 with two RBIs for Lincoln County, which scored five runs in the fourth inning.

McClain O’Connor and Derek Shumway combined on a five-hitter for the Lynx.

Alex Agrawal was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Mustangs (17-8).

Needles 10, The Meadows 8 — Trenton Poe-Evans was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs as Needles earned its way back to the title game by scoring seven runs in the final two innings and eliminating The Meadows.

Kobee McCorkle was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Needles, which earlier in the day eliminated Mountain View, 12-7.

Drake Gordon was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Agrawal went 2-for-3 with two runs for The Meadows.

DIVISION IV

Tabor Maxwell went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs to help host Pahranagat Valley roll to a 12-2 win over Indian Springs in five innings in the Division IV Southern Region winners’ bracket final on Friday.

The Panthers (19-2) will meet Tonopah (17-7) in the championship at 10 a.m. Saturday. Both teams advance to next week’s state tournament.

Jordan Cryts went 2-for-3 with a double, and winning pitcher Christian Higbee was 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Pahranagat Valley.

Devon Sickler was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Thunderbirds.
