ROUNDUP: Brown, Spartans use late spurt to edge San Fernando boys

Christian Brown scored 11 points, and Cimarron-Memorial’s boys basketball team used a 16-8 run in the third quarter Friday on its way to a 40-38 win over visiting San Fernando (Calif.).

Mussie Gebremeskel added 10 points, and Deijon Spillers grabbed 12 rebounds for the Spartans.

Canyon Springs 81, Cherry Creek (Colo.) 56 — At Canyon Springs, Chris Willis had 18 points and 10 rebounds to help the Pioneers run past Cherry Creek.

Jared Brandon added 21 points and seven rebounds, and Michael Thompson supplied 20 points and seven rebounds for Canyon Springs, which got 11 points and six assists from Donald Anderson.

Sam Owsley led Cherry Creek with 17 points.

Lone Peak (Utah) 62, Foothill 47 — At Highland, Utah, the Knights took a 29-22 halftime lead and held off the Falcons.

Brannon Cresanto scored 15 points and Greg Cox 13 for Foothill.

Douglas 62, Faith Lutheran 43 — At Minden, Hunter Myers scored 12 points, and the Tigers pulled away late to down the Crusaders in the Carson Valley Classic.

Brett Lubbe led Faith Lutheran with 14 points, and Don Pearson added 10 points for the Crusaders.

Arbor View 50, Cibola (Ariz.) 42 — At Yuma, Ariz., Blake Claxton scored 12 points, and the Aggies used an 11-3 first-quarter run to beat Cibola and move into the championship game of the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Chase Ealy had 10 points, Will Martin added nine points, and DeAndrea Johnson scored eight for the Aggies.

Steven Mitchell and Paul Mitchell each scored 10 points to pace Cibola.

Arbor View 75, Lake Havasu (Ariz.) 72 — At Yuma, Ariz., Martin had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and the Aggies rallied from a 46-31 halftime deficit to edge Lake Havasu in overtime.

Johnson had 18 points for Arbor View. DeAndre Bright added 12 points, and made 10 of 13 free throws.

Centennial 76, Gila Ridge (Ariz.) 39 — At Yuma, Ariz., Aaseem Dixon had 18 points and seven assists as the Bulldogs ran away from the Hawks in the quarterfinals of the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Neiman Lee added 16 points and nine rebounds, and Joe Marshall scored 12 for Centennial, which outscored Gila Ridge, 43-16 in the second half.

Tucson (Ariz.) 73, Centennial 70 — At Yuma, Ariz., Tucson moved into the championship game of the Southwest Rotary Classic by nipping the Bulldogs.

Lee led Centennial with 16 points. Marcus Allen scored 12, and Dixon and Justin Jones each added 10 points.

Evan Martin grabbed 12 rebounds, and Dixon had eight boards for Centennial.

Mountain View 52, Central (Calif.) 51 — At Yuma, Ariz., Justyn Anderson had 28 points, including a 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to cap a furious comeback by the Saints in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Trevor Van Kempen scored five points, and Braxton Matthews added four during a game-ending 12-2 run as Mountain View erased a 49-40 deficit in the final 2:10 of the game.

Central’s Brandon Andrews scored 21 points.

Sahuarita (Ariz.) 74, Mountain View 68 — At Yuma, Ariz., Anderson scored 28 points, and the Saints again tried a late rally, but fell short against the Mustangs in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Sahuarita led 28-12 after one quarter and 45-28 at the half. The Saints rallied to within 53-46 before a 10-0 run by the Mustangs closed the third quarter.

Van Kempen added 12 points for the Saints, who outscored Sahuarita 22-11 in the fourth quarter.

Kyle Dawicki paced Sahuarita with 18 points.

Desert Oasis 84, Enterprise (Utah) 31 — At Mesquite, Cameron Mich’l poured in 27 points, and the Diamondbacks bolted to leads of 28-5 after one quarter and 48-20 at the half on their way to an easy win over the Wolves in the Bulldog Invitational.

Anthony Lianzo added 14 points for Desert Oasis.

Basic 71, Yerington 57 — At Mesquite, Jaylen Rose had 15 points to lead the Wolves past the Lions in the Bulldog Invitational.

Basic led 42-30 at the half.

Shadow Ridge 60, Virgin Valley 45 — At Mesquite, David Everage had eight of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Mustangs rallied to beat the host Bulldogs in the Bulldog Invitational.

Rodney Rainey added 14 points for Shadow Ridge.

Cameron Jensen led Virgin Valley with 18 points, and teammate Tanner Tichenor added 10 points.

Mojave 57, Moapa Valley 53 — At Mesquite, Andrew Lotts had 20 points to help the Rattlers beat the Pirates in the Bulldog Invitational.

Lotts drained a pair of free throws with eight seconds to play to seal the win.

Demarge Boyd added 10 points for Mojave.

Hayden Cooper led Moapa Valley with 15 points, and Casen Lewis scored 13 for the Pirates.

Pahranagat Valley 56, The Meadows 52 — At Alamo, Jeremy Roemer scored eight of his 20 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Panthers past the Mustangs.

The teams were tied at 40 entering the fourth before the Panthers grabbed the lead and held on for the win.

Roemer also had 10 rebounds. Kale Leavitt added 12 points and eight rebounds for Pahranagat Valley.

Max Newman paced the Meadows with 19 points, and teammate Garrett Gosse scored 15.

Laughlin 63, Indian Springs 19 — At Indian Springs, Avery Prosise scored 13 points, and the Cougars went on a 22-0 second-quarter run to blitz the Thunderbirds.

Kris Suhr and Colton Hill each added 10 points for Laughlin.

Chasen Malden paced Indian Springs with 11 points.
