ROUNDUP: Longhorns jump to early lead, hand Panthers first in-state loss

Ira Haywood and Sian Laine combined for 17 points during a 26-13 first-quarter run Friday to help Legacy’s boys basketball team upset visiting Palo Verde, 77-68.
The Panthers pulled to within four points with one minute to play, but the Longhorns made 5-of-6 free throws to hold on for the victory and hand Palo Verde (16-3, 12-1 Northwest League) its first loss to a Nevada team this season and its first loss overall since Dec. 23, 2009.
Haywood had 23 points, and Laine added 21 points and eight assists for the Longhorns (12-9, 7-6), who pulled into a fourth-place tie with Cimarron-Memorial in the Northwest.
Sam Johnson contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Zach Lane added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Legacy.
Moses Morgan led Palo Verde with 26 points. Andrew Topham scored 14 points and Nick Hipwell netted 10 for the Panthers.
Valley 80, Eldorado 70 — At Valley, Angelo Coleman scored 19 points, and the Vikings used their inside game to rack up 46 points in the paint en route to a win over the Sundevils.
Johnny Arbelaez had 17 points, Royce Finley scored 13 and Job Williams added 12 for the Vikings.
Curtis Stewart led the Sundevils with 28 points, and teammate Da’Quan Thrower had 15.
Las Vegas 82, Rancho 55 — At Las Vegas, Tyree Anderson scored 26 points to lead the Wildcats in a rout of the Rams.
Hasaan Henderson added 15 points for Las Vegas, which outscored Rancho 49-28 in the middle quarters. Travon Langston and
George Sanico each added 10 points for the Wildcats.
Tyler Gaston led Rancho with 18 points. Antonio Boucher added 12 points, and Amir Royal also scored 10 for the Rams.
Canyon Springs 70, Chaparral 55 — At Chaparral, the Pioneers broke open a close game in the third quarter by outscoring the Cowboys 29-15 on their way to the victory.
Michael Thompson had 29 points, Jeremy Alexander scored 19 and Jared Brandon added 12 points for Canyon Springs.
Jermaine Neal scored 15 points to lead Chaparral. Bre Onte Griffin had 12 points, and Chris Goodloe and Zachary Kirschbaum each added 10 for the Cowboys.
Foothill 79, Silverado 63 — At Foothill, Chris Clementi scored 18 points to help the Falcons top Silverado.
Zac Ginter added 14 points, Tyland Copeland had 13 and six assists, and Evan Roquemore contributed 12 points and six rebounds for Foothill.
David Lutomski led Silverado with 20 points.
Desert Pines 83, Sunrise Mountain 70 — At Desert Pines, Tyler Larson had 18 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to lead the Jaguars past the Miners.
Dominique Lawrence scored 20 points and Najee McIver added 10 for Desert Pines.
Matt Marshall led Sunrise Mountain with 21 points. Fharhaad Zinnamon and Shmarlio Toliver each scored 15 for the Miners.
Durango 70, Bonanza 55 — At Durango, Devonte Williams had 19 points to lead the Trailblazers to a victory over the Bengals.
Devin Matthews added 12 points for Durango, which took over by outscoring Bonanza 23-11 in the third quarter.
Dasean Martin scored 13 points to lead the Bengals.
Arbor View 80, Faith Lutheran 59 — At Faith Lutheran, Darington Banks had 17 of his game-high 27 points in the second quarter to help the Aggies defeat the Crusaders.
Banks hit four 3-pointers in the second quarter as Arbor View outscored Faith Lutheran 36-13 to take a 47-27 halftime advantage.
Maiscei Grier added 24 points for the Aggies, and Anthony Trepagnier scored 13 for Arbor View.
D’Khari Hicks led Faith Lutheran with 18 points. Sam Done added 15 points and James Hammer had 14 for the Crusaders.
Coronado 61, Del Sol 49 — At Del Sol, Brandon Glanz scored 11 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Cougars to a victory over the Dragons.
Austin Nelson had 17 points to help Coronado, which led 37-34 entering the fourth quarter.
Jeff Coon scored 16 for Del Sol.
Cheyenne 88, Centennial 50 — At Cheyenne, J’Quon Wroten had 23 points and seven assists as the Desert Shields routed the Bulldogs.
Chris McCall added 16 points, and Jaylen Henry scored 11 for Cheyenne, which outscored Centennial 47-19 in the second half.
Aaseem Dixon had 19 points to lead the Bulldogs. Ben Vozzola added 13 for Centennial.
Liberty 70, Green Valley 54 — At Green Valley, Ashante Ross scored 23 points to lift the Patriots to a win over the Gators.
Aaron Navitsky scored 13 points to help Liberty, which had 24 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter.
Austin Tebbs led Green Valley with 13 points.
Shadow Ridge 64, Mojave 48 — At Shadow Ridge, Josh Youngblood scored 18 points on six first-half 3-pointers as the Mustangs cruised past the Rattlers.
Zach Hafen added 17 points and 11 rebounds for Shadow Ridge, which led 39-25 at the half. Joe Pearson netted 10 points for the Mustangs.
Royale Jackson had 15 points and Anthony Lewis contributed 10 for Mojave.
Basic 52, Tech 31 — At Tech, Nick Sangchaloay scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Wolves past the Roadrunners.
Michael Johnson scored 13 points for Tech.
Moapa Valley 100, Boulder City 65 — At Boulder City, Josh Thompson scored 32 points as the Pirates put up points early and often en route to a win over the Eagles.
Casen Lewis added 16 points, and James Frehner had 14 for the Pirates, who had eight players scored at least seven points.
Nate Hafen and Preston Swasey each scored 13 points, and Kyle Dimpel chipped in 10 for Boulder City.
Mountain View 61, Agassi Prep 41 — At Agassi Prep, Justyn Anderson scored a game-high 45 points, and the Saints used a 21-4 fourth-quarter run to put away the Stars.
Anderson, who made 15-of-19 free throws, also had 10 steals and six rebounds for Mountain View.
Dimitri Amos had 21 points, and Quincy Brown scored 10 for Agassi Prep.
The Meadows 68, White Pine 58 — At The Meadows, Max Newman scored 19 of his game-high 21 points in the second half to rally the Mustangs past the Bobcats.
Garrett Gosse scored 17 points, and Austin Brown added 15 points for The Meadows.
Michael Johnson led White Pine with 18 points.
Trinity 59, Laughlin 53 — At Mirabelli Gym, Budweiser Hawkins had 24 points to lead the Thunder past the Cougars.
Tyler Watts added 14 points and Gage Neuwhoner scored 12 for Trinity.
Andre Prosise led Laughlin with 14 points.
Spring Mountain 61, Lund 35 — At Saville Middle School, Brock McQuade and Darrius Thomas each had 12 points as the Golden Eagles cruised past the Mustangs.
Jeremy Johnson added 11 points for Spring Mountain.
Jarrett Gubler led Lund with 13 points.
Lincoln County 90, Calvary Chapel 54 — At Panaca, Dantley Walker had 37 points, 11 assists and six rebounds as the Lynx routed the Lions.
Eric Rippetoe added 24 points and eight rebounds for Lincoln County, which took a 41-20 halftime lead.
Justin Cox had 20 points and Brandon Corbitt scored 15 for Calvary Chapel.
Indian Springs 67, Tonopah 60 — At Indian Springs, Adam Reinke had 26 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Thunderbirds past the Muckers.
Brock Roadhouse added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Chasen Malden scored 15 for Indian Springs.
Adam Thackery led Tonopah with 19 points.
Beatty 57, Round Mountain 29 — At Round Mountain, Ramiro Hernandez had 16 points to help the Hornets blow past the Knights.
Jose Moreno added 12 points and Ivan Maldonado scored 11 for Beatty, which held Round Mountain to nine second-half points.
Lake Mead 65, Henderson International 18 — At Henderson International, De’Quan Thompson scored 21 points, and the Eagles held the Wolverines to two second-half points in a rout.
Landon Littlefield added 19 points for the Eagles, who led 22-3 after the first quarter.
Jay Sutorius had six points for the Wolverines.
Pahranagat Valley 73, Sandy Valley 25 — At Sandy Valley, Kade Wadsworth and Tommy Williams each scored 13 points as the Panthers blasted the Sidewinders.
Needles 68, West Wendover 67 — At Needles, Calif., Anthony Ramos had 28 points and seven rebounds as the Mustangs held on to beat the Wolverines.
Aaron Burns had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Needles, which led 38-29 at halftime.
Drew Arrien led West Wendover with 16 points. Avery Arrien added 13 points, Kevin Ramirez 12 and Corey Bostock 11 for the Wolverines.
