ROUNDUP: Moreno, Lions blank Laughlin

Cody Moreno rushed for two touchdowns and had another receiving Saturday to lead Calvary Chapel’s football team to a 34-0 rout of Laughlin in a Class 2A Southern League game at Henderson International.
Moreno scored on runs of 3 and 17 yards and added a 6-yard touchdown reception from Cody Taylor to help the Lions (1-4, 1-2) earn their first win.
“It feels great. The kids have been working hard and we knew eventually it was going to come,” Calvary Chapel coach Cliff Frazier said. “Hopefully we can use this as a springboard.”
Taylor completed 4 of 5 passes for 71 yards and one TD and rushed for 93 yards and a score on 11 attempts. Moreno carried 14 times for 81 yards, and caught three passes for 21 yards.

“We really need to work on controlling the line of scrimmage,” Frazier said. “That’s something we’re trying to get to, is controlling the line and the clock at the same time, so that was huge for us.”
A.J. Davis added an 8-yard rushing TD in the third quarter for Calvary Chapel.
Senior quarterback Andre Prosise rushed for 117 yards on 16 carries to lead Laughlin (2-3, 0-3). The Cougars lost two fumbles and had a punt blocked.
