Wildcats air it out in win over Spartans

Raul Perez and Hanoi Rabago each caught two touchdowns for No. 10 Las Vegas Friday as the Wildcats defeated Visiting Cimarron-Memorial, 37-19.

Ronnie Broadhead threw for three of the scores and 151 yards, with backup Zach Matlock throwing for another touchdown after Broached exited with an injury. Elijah Hicks also ran for 120 yards and a touchdown on just 11 carries for Las Vegas (2-1).

Las Vegas got off to a quick start, with the first of Perez's touchdowns coming on a 52-yard catch and run less than two minutes into the game.

Hicks added his 11-yard TD run in the first minute of the second quarter.

Broadhead then hit Rabago for a touchdown from 30 yards just before the half, followed by a fumble deep in Spartan territory gave them one more chance for a touchdown, with Perez catching his second score from 16 yards out with 20 seconds left in the half.

In the second half, the Spartans (0-4) struck back, with Tyree Riley scoring on an 8-yard run to open the second-half scoring. Riley was effective throughout the night for Cimarron, rushing for 194 yards on 37 carries.

Matlock, in relief for Broadhead, threw a 31-yard touchdown to Rabago on fourth down to give Las Vegas a 34-7 lead at the end of the third quarter.

A muffed punt soon gave Cimarron a short field, which George Tribble used to score from 1-yard out.

On the ensuing drive, Ricardo Ortega hit a 24-yard field goal for Las Vegas.

Cimarron's Antwaun Rainey then finished out the scoring, hauling in a 25-yard score from Tribble with 1:09 to play.
