Band’s depiction made from LEGOs

The Killers have done Vegas proud in many ways, but there is a secret about the band that bugs the media here and around the world.

The Killers routinely turn down requests from photojournalists (at newspapers, magazines and websites) who want to take pictures at concerts.

That is a rare rejection in the music world.

Instead, The Killers regularly give us media their own official concert photos, and we publish them. Those official photos are taken by photographer Wyatt Boswell, who has been called singer Brandon Flowers’ best friend and tour buddy.

A lot of photographers see their dismissals from Killers concerts as a disrespectful loss of work.

But now finally, someone in the media has struck back against the nouveau-wave band — in a pretty cutesy way that is going a little viral online.

Irish music site GoldenPlec.com got turned down for a photo pass. So photographer Debbie Hickey cleverly crafted a toy Killers concert out of LEGOs. Then she took photos of those LEGO Killers in concert. And GoldenPlec ran her photos of The Killers in LEGOs form.

You can see her series of LEGO Killers images online (http://www.goldenplec.com/the-killers-at-the-o2/).

It took Hickey hours to sift through LEGOs to find ones that looked most like The Killers.

So here’s what I’m asking of you, dear friends: If you create your own Killers images out of ink, clay, mashed potatoes or any other art form, please email them to me, or post links to them in the comments section of this story.

If I get enough of your creative art portrayals of The Killers (or portrayals of photographers being thrown out of Killers shows), I’ll run them and give you credit. It would be great if one of you musicians in The Killers sent me art, too. Thanks, guys.

TYRA EATS EQUALS NEWS

TV model Tyra Banks was seen making four trips to the lines of the fancy Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace on Thursday.

Diners told her she looked beautiful in person, in her light gray, sleeveless pantsuit, while she sought barbecue ribs.

For a buffet, this place gets some famous eaters, from CeeLo Green to Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper and grumpy Gordon Ramsay.

THE CROWDED CLUB MARKET

Another dayclub, called Daylight, is opening Memorial Day weekend at Mandalay Bay.

Daylight is run by Light Group. So Daylight’s DJ lineup comes from Mandalay Bay’s upcoming nightclub Light, also run by Light Group: DJs Skrillex, A-Trak, Zedd, Bassjackers and others.

Meanwhile, Sapphire strip club is opening a dayclub (for real), and it has signed up celebrity chef Kerry Simon to create snack-and-entree menus. Yet more club news: DJ Kaskade signed up to perform 24 times over 16 weeks this spring and summer at Marquee and Marquee Dayclub.

And DJ Steve Aoki has decided to move from the Wynn clubs to the new club Hakkasan, opening in April at MGM.

Mark my words, this is the year rivalry reaches maximum velocity among nightclubs, dayclubs and DJ contracts.

All these clubs (new and old) will compete in a very crowded marketplace for both clubbers and performers.
