Body found in Lake Mead area where Chicago man disappeared June 20

A male body was recovered from the area of Lake Mead where a 35-year-old Chicago man went missing on June 20.

The body was found about 8:40 a.m. Wednesday floating on the surface of Lake Mead near Castle Reef, according to Christie Vanover, spokeswoman for Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

On June 20, Istvan Tibor Feichtner disappeared in the water near Painter’s Cove and Castle Reef after going for a swim. Witnesses said that he was not wearing a life jacket and seemed to be struggling in the strong current.

The Clark County coroner’s office is still in the process of identifying the body, Vanover said.
