Doral Academy plans to open fourth campus in fall

Doral Academy of Las Vegas, which operates three public charter schools in Clark County, will open its fourth campus this fall in Summerlin.

The new school, at the corners of Alta and Sky Vista drives, initially will serve kindergarten through ninth-grade students with plans to include 10th- through 12th-graders over the next three years.

Dubbed Doral Academy Red Rock, the charter campus can house a total of up to 2,400 students.

Doral Academy opened its first campus in fall 2013 and received approval for the expansion in July from the State Public Charter School Authority.

The Howard Hughes Corp., which manages and develops Summerlin, stated in a news release Wednesday that the Clark County School District plans to open two traditional elementary schools in the master-planned community. Both will open for the 2017-18 school year, the release said.
