Inmate, 62, found dead in Ely State Prison cell

ELY — A 62-year-old inmate was found dead in his cell in Ely State Prison this week.

Officials with the Nevada Department of Corrections said Robert Luttrell’s body was discovered Thursday. Authorities don’t suspect foul play.

Luttrell, who was convicted in Washoe County of robbery with a deadly weapon, had been imprisoned since September 2006.

He was serving two consecutive terms of 40 to 180 months.

A cause of death was not immediately released.

It’s the latest in a string of inmate deaths in the state that started in September.
