A Pahrump strip club was robbed July 3 BY A GUNMAN with either an ironic wardrobe or a burning desire to teach his victims a lesson.

According to the news release from the Nye County Sheriff's Office, the suspect entered the Kingdom Gentleman's Club with a gun and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man was dressed all in black with only one identifying mark on the back of his jacket: the word "security" in big, white letters.

Some people didn't take kindly to the vote cast last week by Las Vegas City Councilman Stavros Anthony against a new contract for the city's firefighters.

In fact, he may have invoked Big Red's Curse. And we're not talking about chewing gum.

The city released two e-mails sent to Anthony after his vote that were submitted -- anonymously -- via the city's website.

"The Big Red curse is upon you," one writer warned. "You ride her in a parade and then turn your back on fire.

"It is real. It will affect you. You don't mess with Big Red. She is our protector. You should be ashamed."

Another e-mail was far more terse, apparently garbling his profane remarks to get by the e-mail filters.

School Board member Linda Young meant only praise but it still sounded a little funny when she announced, "I just got some information that, um, Trustee (Sheila) Moulton is pretty close to being certified."

Young was referring to a certification for a professional honor, of course.

SECRETARY OF STATE ROSS MILLER TWEETed A PHOTO (tweetphoto.com/31214710) this week of the state's 2010 Census "How many marbles?" prop.

The prop came to an unceremonious end over the Fourth of July weekend when it cracked in half, spilling marbles that represented population size all over the floor. Either the state cannot hold anymore people, or Nevada has lost its marbles.
