Here are 6 unique pool attractions in Las Vegas — PHOTOS

Pools may be a dime a dozen in Las Vegas, but that doesn’t mean they’re all created equal. Many of the city’s biggest resorts work to make sure they offer more than just your typical day at the pool.

From downtown Las Vegas to the Strip, here are six unique pool attractions:

Take a dip and catch a movie under the stars

The Cosmopolitan is gearing up for the return of its “Dive in Movies at the Boulevard Pool” series. The event, held every Monday night, gives moviegoers the chance to take in a blockbuster movie high above the Las Vegas Strip. The pool remains open during the showing, so guests can either lounge poolside or dive right in.

Dive in Movies will be held weekly from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Admission is $5 for non-hotel guests.

Surf the Strip

You may not be able to sink your toes into white sand at Planet Hollywood’s pool, but you can hang-ten. The hotel-casino is home to Las Vegas’ first-ever FlowRider Wave-in-a-Box, an experience that allows visitors to try their hand (and feet) at surfing or Boogie Boarding. The attraction is open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Guests must be at least 42 inches to Boogie Board and 48 inches to surf. Each session is 30 minutes and costs $25. Planet Hollywood does note that guests shouldn’t fear wiping out as the surface is made to handle the force of impacts.

Float around paradise

The MGM wants to make your day at the pool as relaxing as possible, even if that means doing the swimming for you. To do so, the resort outfitted its pool area with a complete lazy river. Hop on board a tube, which are available to rent at the pool, and let your worries float away. According to Travel&Leisure, the lazy river takes about 10 minutes to completely circle.

Put your game face on

At the Stratosphere’s newly redesigned Elation Pool, guests can either lounge by the pool and catch some rays or get involved in a game of pool volleyball. The resort offers daily pool volleyball competitions with more than just bragging rights for the winners. The winning team receives a free round of Jell-O shots (for those team members 21 and over), the Stratosphere noted.

Spend the day at the beach

Love the beach? Mandalay Bay has you covered. For those craving a beach getaway but can’t escape to the coast, Mandalay Bay’s Beach features 2,700 tons of real sand ready to sink your toes in. You can also feel real waves crash against you in the resort’s 1.6 million-gallon wave pool.

Slide through a tank of sharks

No Las Vegas pool list would be complete without a mention of the Golden Nugget’s $30 million pool. In addition to soaking up some vitamin D while lounging around the pool, the hotel also has a 200,000-gallon live shark tank just feet away from the pool. If you’re feeling brave, take a ride on the three-story “Shark Chute” water slide that flows right through the middle of the tank.

Many of the pools require a cover charge for non-hotel guests and are pending availability.
