Let’s stop throwing around allegations of racism
I’m a bigot … I guess. That is if you believe Monday’s letter from Jason Brent, who states that “all bigots voted for [Donald] Trump.”
There are facts and there are opinions. If I say the sky is red, that is a fact — though a false one. If I say everyone who voted against Mr. Trump was not a bigot, that is an opinion — as is Mr. Brent’s ludicrous assertion.
What makes opinions like his so dangerous is that these beliefs become for some a justification to act, not just protest. Then they show up at a demonstration with a club and try to hurt someone with a different opinion.
But the ultimate sadness is that those who put everyone in one basket are bigots themselves.
The left is attempting to label all those on the right as white supremacists, even though the number of real white supremacists could not elect a local dog catcher, let alone the president.
