LETTER: The IRS and a working man’s tips

It’s close to April 15 and the IRS makes the news again in a March 25 Review-Journal Business section story on tip compliance. Let me ask: When one of our hard-working cocktail servers brings you a drink and you put a dollar on her tray, why should she have to declare that gift — and, yes, it is a gift — as income on her tax return? Please explain, because I don’t understand.
