Think tank’s appeal of Nevada separation-of-powers case is good news

Kudos to the Nevada Policy Research Institute for continuing its lawsuit against those legislators who openly disregard the Nevada Constitution (Wednesday Review-Journal). When a document of laws carrying such importance for setting the boundaries for what’s right and wrong are flouted by an activist judge, it’s time to replace that judge. When the rules are set and activist judges believe they know better by creating their own rules, it’s clear that they can no longer do the job they were hired to perform.
I am hopeful that the Nevada Supreme Court will overturn District Judge James Russell’s decision and not allow conflict-of-interest situations by legislators of either party. Those legislators, such as state Sen. Heidi Gansert, should not only be ashamed, they should be fired and replaced. And the same can be said about Judge Russell. Judges are there to uphold the law, not to create their own.
