2 WNBA players arrested on assault, disorderly conduct charges

Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner and Tulsa Shock forward Glory Johnson were arrested Wednesday for suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct.
According to multiple reports, the couple engaged to be married, were arrested in Arizona on Wednesday and released Thursday around 4 a.m., based on records from the Mericopa County Sheriff’s Office.
The 6-foot-8 Griner, a first-team all-WNBA selection, averaged 16.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, was named WNBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2014.
Griner and Johnson publicly announced their engagement in August 2014.
