Magdaleno stays undefeated, knocks out Perez in Phoenix

Jessie Magdaleno went back to being a power puncher and the super bantamweight from Las Vegas remained undefeated after knocking out Rey Perez in the seventh round of their scheduled 10-round bout at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix.

Magdaleno (23-0, 17 KOs) nailed Perez with a hard left to the body that sent Perez down in the seventh round. Perez was not able to beat the count and the fight ended at 2:51. Perez dropped to 20-8.

Magdaleno, who is seeking a world title opportunity later this year against World Boxing Organization champion Nonito Donaire, dominated throughout the fight, outboxing his opponent with an effective jab while mixing in his power shots. He won every round with the judges until he finished off Perez with the left hook in the seventh round.
