Fan’s View: All In. All Together.

“All In. All Together.” This is the theme for this year’s UNLV men’s basketball team. With a team full of new players, this seems like a good concept.

It is a very exciting time for Rebel fans right now, as the season is about to start. Anticipation and curiosity are just boiling over waiting for the first tip, which will be Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Who will the starters be? Who will be first off the bench? Who will be the savior to keep our 3-point record intact?

Those questions will all be answered throughout the season, and will probably change several times. These are my predictions for at least the first game:

I’m going to go with Cody Doolin, Rashad Vaughn, Jelan Kendrick, Goodluck Okonoboh and Dwayne Morgan as the starters.

My first off the bench is Pat McCaw, followed by Chris Wood and Kendall Smith.

My 3-point savior has to be Dantley Walker. If we make it halfway through the 2nd half without a three, Coach just needs to put Dantley in and we will be golden.

My pre-season prediction for freshman of the year is Dwayne Morgan and my “Hustle Man” prediction is Pat McCaw.

Some of my Review-Journal co-workers and I will be making final score predictions for each game. You’ll be able to find them on reviewjournal.com.

Next week, I’ll be following the team to New York City as they play at the Barclay’s Center in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The first game is Friday, November 21 against Stanford and they will play again on Saturday, November 22 against either Duke or Temple.

ON THE GRIDIRON

Only 3 more games left for the UNLV football team. They play in Provo this Saturday at 4 p.m. against BYU. The game will be shown on ESPNU. They then head to Hawaii for a game on November 22 (8 p.m. PT on the Mountain West Network).

After that, they’ll return home Thanksgiving weekend to play in-state and conference rival, UNR. We need to keep that cannon red so we’ll need every fan and their mama at Sam Boyd Stadium on November 29 for the game. The time of the game will be announced on November 17.

Devante Davis returned to the field for the Air Force game last week after being out for over a month with an injury, He immediately picked up where he left off, posting 114 yards and a touchdown. While he was out, his fellow wide receivers Devonte Boyd and Kendall Keys did a pretty good job, making some amazing catches that ended up on Sportscenter each Saturday night!

REBEL SPORTS WRAP-UP

Congrats to the men’s and women’s soccer teams as they both had very successful seasons. The men’s team finished first in the WAC. They will be playing in the WAC tournament on Friday at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of UMKC-San Jose State. You can watch that game on the WAC digital network.

The women’s team finished their season in the Mountain West with a 9-8-2 record, 4-6-1 in conference play.

The UNLV volleyball team has had an amazing season so far, and it’s not over yet. They play in the Governor’s Series against UNR tonight at 6 p.m. and all fans wearing red can buy tickets for half price!

They also play on Saturday night at 6 p.m. against San Jose State. This time, all fans wearing pink (for breast cancer awareness) can buy tickets for half price! These games are at the Cox Pavilion.

Last, but not least, the Lady Rebels also open their season this Friday at the Thomas & Mack before the men’s game. Tip off is 4 p.m. so sneak out of work a little early and come support the Lady Rebels.

I hope you all enjoy my predictions, and watch for me blogging from the Big Apple next week. We are #AllInAllTogether Rebel fans!
