Transformer explodes near Eastern and Tropicana avenues

A transformer exploded near Eastern and Tropicana avenues around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, setting fire to several trees near an apartment building, Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said.
No one was injured and the fire department has no estimate of the damages caused by the fire yet. However, about 50 people were left without power in the immediate area after the explosion, according to NVEnergy’s outage map.
