Golden Nugget already taking bets on Holly Holm-Ronda Rousey rematch

The largest crowd in Ultimate Fighting Championship history and what is expected to be a massive pay-per-view audience watched Ronda Rousey get beat up by Holly Holm from the opening bell in the main event of UFC 193 on Saturday night Melbourne, Australia.

At least one Las Vegas bookmaker doesn't expect the rematch to go the same way and he's willing to let people bet on it.

Golden Nugget sportsbook director Tony Miller installed Rousey as a minus-400 favorite when he put the potential rematch on the betting board Monday afternoon. Holm bettors could get the new champion at plus-320.

"As far as the price goes, will there be an overreaction on Holm? I think so," Miller said. "I have to believe Rousey will be much more prepared and ready for the rematch."

Miller's instinct proved correct almost immediately as he took a bet on Holm from what he called a sharp player that dropped the line to Rousey minus-300.

The fight must take place before July 9, the scheduled date of UFC 200 at the new Las Vegas Arena, for the bet to have action or all wagers will be refunded.

"I just wanted to put this fight up right away, since it's still the buzz and hot topic in the sports world," Miller said. "I know the rematch, when it happens, will be one of the biggest events ever."

UFC president Dana White said a rematch "makes sense" as the next fight for Holm and Rousey. The new champion seemed to agree, saying she knows if roles were reversed, she would certainly want the chance to avenge the loss.

SOCIAL MEDIA REACTS — Rousey finally made a public comment late Sunday following her stunning knockout loss to Holm.

A shocked and battered Rousey left the cage after the loss without doing an interview and was unable to attend the post-fight news conference because she was transported to the hospital.

She took to Instagram with a brief message for her fans.

"I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support," she posted. "I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I'm fine. As I had mentioned before, I'm going to take a little bit of time, but I'll be back."

Rousey said before the fight she wanted time off after this fight. She indicated UFC 200 as a likely date for her next title defense had she retained the belt.

While she pointed out some fans had been sympathetic, there was a certainly a fair share of criticism as well.

Two of Rousey's biggest rivals, Miesha Tate and Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino have publicly expressed pleasure in the result.

Rap star 50 Cent posted a celebratory post on Instagram, which he said was on behalf of Floyd Mayweather Jr., who has been engaged in a war of words with Rousey.

Perhaps the most interesting social media critique aimed at Rousey came from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

"Glad to see @RondaRousey lost her championship fight last night," Trump posted on Twitter. "Was soundly beaten - not a nice person!"

Several weeks ago, Trump revealed in an interview that Rousey was a supporter of his run for president.

Rousey disputed the claim and has been a vocal advocate for Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. She told CNN she wouldn't trust a "reality star" to run the country.

UFC RETURNS TO MEXICO — After this weekend's record-setting card in Australia, the UFC returns Saturday with "The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 2 Finale" in Monterrey, Mexico.

Welterweight Kelvin Gastelum headlines the card against Neil Magny, who is an injury replacement for Matt Brown.

Also, Ricardo Lamas meets Diego Sanchez in a key featherweight bout and undefeated flyweight Henry Cejudo can potentially earn a title shot with a win over Jussier Formiga.

The event airs live on Fox Sports 1 (Cable 329) at 7 p.m., with the preliminary card beginning at 5 on the network.

KOSCHECK, DALEY ON JANUARY BELLATOR CARD — Former UFC welterweight rivals Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley are on a collision course to meet on a Bellator card in the near future.

Both will be in action in separate bouts on Jan. 29 at Bellator 148 in Fresno, Calif., the organization announced Monday.

Koscheck will make his organizational debut against Matt Secor in the main event and Daley will meet Andy Uhrich.

Daley was cut from the UFC after swinging at Koscheck after the bell when they fought in each other in a 2010 bout that featured a bitter verbal battle between the two heading into the fight.

Koscheck dropped five straight fights to close out his UFC contract, which expired with a loss Erick Silva in March.
