Nevada fishing report, Nov. 12, 2015
November 11, 2015 - 11:25 pm
LAKE MEAD — Fishing activity has picked up. Anglers have to work for their stripers, but they are catching fish. Shad and striped bass are spread out. One angler reported catching 16 fish in the 1- to 4-pound range at depths between 60 and 80 feet. Catfish have been biting on anchovies and worms. Smallmouth bass have provided action as well. The Government Wash area has been attracting the most attention.
LAKE MOHAVE — Willow Beach anglers have been catching striped bass and catfish while using anchovies and worms. The coves above the power lines have been producing fish as well.
LAUGHLIN — Anglers have been doing well with a Bomber Long A and similar lures. Shore fishing with anchovies has been proven productive for catfish and stripers. Some striped bass have pushed 5 pounds.
LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — With the drop in water temperatures, the four urban ponds finally are ready for rainbow trout stocking to begin. Barring unforeseen problems such as weather issues, the Nevada Department of Wildlife plans to begin seasonal trout plants this week. Warm-water fish action has tapered off this week, also because of cooler water temperatures.
KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — The report this week is much the same as last week. Unsettled weather patterns have made fishing difficult for anglers working around storm cells. Still, trout fishing has been good across the management area. Hay Meadow and Dacey reservoirs are showing the best catch rates. Fly-fishermen have reported dark Woolly Buggers have been their most productive pattern. Emergent vegetation has made shore fishing difficult.
EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Windy conditions have prevailed much of the past week, but rainbow catch rates remain good for those braving the weather. Flies, small lures, PowerBait and night crawlers have been working well.
ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — Rainbow trout continue to take most colors of PowerBait and night crawlers. Conditions have been windy, with some scattered storm cells. The park asks visitors to use caution when fishing during storm conditions.
