Tebow had better watch his back

The New England Patriots’ signing of a certain third-string quarterback this week has stirred up all sorts of vitriol from NFL fans.

But you won’t hear any of that from the folks here at Leftovers. In fact, we’re rooting for Tim Tebow to make the Pats’ 53-man roster just to see what happens when the notoriously straight-laced Tebow is forced to be on the team with wild man Rob Gronkowski.

In April 2012, Gronk was at the University of Rhode Island taking questions from students when one decided to play the M-F-K game with the eccentric tight end.

In the risque party game, participants are given the names of three people and then asked who they would marry, who they would — in the words of Dr. Sheldon Cooper — have “coitus” with and who they would kill.

Gronkowski’s choices were nonagenarian actress Betty White, Jets coach Rex Ryan and Tebow, who was traded to the Jets a month earlier.

His answer? “I would ‘F’ Tebow, to take his virginity,” Gronk told the audience.

The response naturally drew a huge laugh from the crowd and went viral on the Internet.

Of course, it’s not clear whether Gronkowski would give the same response now if he was asked to play the game.

And we still don’t know what he would do with Betty White.

■ JOIN THE ‘BOOBMENT’ — College sports has seen its fair share of controversies over the years but nothing quite like the latest brouhaha out of Lawrence, Kan.

According to the Kansas City (Mo.) Star, the University of Kansas sent a cease-and-desist letter Monday to the Twitter account @KUBoobs stating that it had to shut down by today.

The account, which has more than 50,000 followers, is exactly what its name suggests, with plenty of pictures of scantily clad Jayhawks fans showing off their, um, assets.

However, the school does not want @KUBoobs to disappear entirely. Instead, it wants the account’s owners to stop selling merchandise with KU on it.

“KU is not trying to shut down the @KUboobs Twitter account,” associate athletics director Jim Marchiony wrote on his official Twitter account. “A Twitter account is one thing. But they’re selling merchandise with KU on it.

“That violates KU’s Federal trademark, which the University must protect.”

So, to review: Cleavage, good. Bootleg merchandise, not so much.

■ HELP ON THE WAY? — Chloe McCardel will battle swift currents, stinging jellyfish and sharks when she attempts a record swim from Cuba to Florida this week.

The 29-year-old Australian is bidding to become the first person to make the 100-mile Straits of Florida crossing without the protection of a shark cage.

And after the hot start by Cuban outfielder Yasiel Puig, Dodgers fans are hopeful McCardel can carry a starting pitcher with her.

■ THE NOT-SO-BEAUTIFUL GAME — A Lebanese soccer referee was sentenced to six months in a Singapore prison Tuesday for accepting sexual bribes to fix a match. The two assistant referees also were jailed for the same offense.

As Willy Wonka would say, “For some moments in life, there are no words.”
