UNLV stadium plan gets OK

The higher education system’s Board of Regents gave its initial OK on Friday to a plan that would build a 40,000-seat domed stadium on campus. The stadium would be accompanied by thousands of units of on campus housing, 600,000 square feet of retail space, a spacious outdoor gathering spot and parking for thousands of cars.

No fewer than a dozen stadium and arena proposals have emerged in Southern Nevada over the past 15 years, and most of those have fizzled.
