Oscar Velazquez assisted on two goals 2 minutes, 33 seconds apart to rally UNLV past Houston Baptist 3-1 in both teams’ Western Athletic Conference men’s soccer opener Thursday at Johann Memorial Field.

Down 1-0 at halftime, Danny Musovski scored his sixth goal of the season in the 63rd minute for the Rebels (4-6, 1-0).
Timo Mehlich put UNLV ahead to stay in the 64th minute, and Marquis Pitt capped the scoring in the 79th minute.
Enrique Adame had five saves for the Rebels. Kevin Partida and Shota Takada each had an assist for UNLV.
At Cox Pavilion, Kayla DeCoursey had 17 kills and Kassidy Johnson 49 assists to lead Utah State to a 3-1 victory over UNLV in a Mountain West match.
Lauren Anderson had 15 kills and three aces for the Aggies (11-4, 3-0), who prevailed by scores of 25-18, 25-17, 24-26, 25-18 in winning their fifth straight match.
