Body falls out of SUV being pulled from pond and into nearby woods

A body was found inside of a vehicle that was submerged in a pond Thursday night. While crews were pulling the vehicle out of the pond, they say the body fell out and landed in nearby woods.

According to a spokesperson with Gwinnett County police, someone was walking along Oakbrook Parkway at Indian Trail Road in Norcross when they found the sliver SUV overturned in a pond.

Norcross is about 20 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.

The police spokesperson said the driver entered the woods in an area that was hard to reach by pedestrians. As a result, crews had to “cut an extra area from the wood line to make better access and get to that vehicle a little more easily,” according to the spokesperson.

Crews initially had a hard time removing the body from the woods, according to the police spokesperson, although they did eventually recover the body.
