Courtesy Kia technician honored as nation’s best

Jared Dimitt, shop foreman at Courtesy Kia in Henderson, was recently honored as one of the top KIA technicians in the United States. Dimitt was one of just 16 KIA service technicians in the U.S. to qualify to participate in the KIA Motors America biennial National Skill Cup Competition.

Dimitt qualified for this honor by holding a current Elite Master Technician certification and by achieving a top 16 score in the grueling KIA vehicle technology and diagnosis test.

“The initial qualification test is tough,” Dimitt said. “It takes about seven to 10 hours to complete it.”

In addition to his high test scores, Dimitt also was selected based on his consistent high customer satisfaction scores and on the endorsements he earned from KIA’s regional management.

“It’s not just the KIA competition. It’s the way we do business at Courtesy. Our team believes your car should be fixed right—the first time,” Dimitt said. “And we want you to be happy with your entire Courtesy experience.”

Dimitt said the national competition was fun and challenging.

“Every technician that qualifies to participate is excellent. You have to bring your A game and do your best. Yet, at the end of the day, we’re all friends and it feels like family,” he said.

Dimitt is the only technician in the State of Nevada to achieve this honor. He finished the national competition ranked fourth in the 13-State Western Region.

Dimitt started his career with Courtesy as a lot porter. That was in August of 1992. Since then, he has worked his way up within the organization.

“I’ve been with Courtesy for 22 years. I started working on KIAs in 1995. I absolutely love it here. We have a great owner and a great management team. Everyone is totally committed to treating people right.”
