Dear Harry Reid: Let’s go see ‘Lone Survivor’

Here’s what I’d like to do with my U.S. Senator, Harry Reid.

I’d like to force him to sit in the auditorium at the veteran’s cemetery in Boulder City and watch the movie “Lone Survivor” with the family of Nevadans who were wounded or killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Then I’d like him to explain what he meant, as our soldiers fought in Iraq in 2007, when he said:

“I believe myself that the secretary of state, secretary of defense and — you have to make your own decisions as to what the president knows — (know) this war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything…”

While our men died, Reid called the war lost. He was wrong. The surge worked. We didn’t lose. We won.

In Secretary of Defense Robert Gates new book “Duty” Gates looks back on that statement and writes: “I was furious and shared privately with some of my staff a quote from Abraham Lincoln I had written down long before. ‘Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled or hanged.’”

That’s what I’d like to do with Harry Reid. Go to the movies, I mean.
