ePollito Mexican Grill
1002 N. Rancho Drive at West Washington Avenue; 702-338-3738
Gustavo Vera knows grilling, and he also knows chicken. The owner/chef of this small, personal restaurant will greet you at the door, take your order and then go to work grilling up the No. 1 combo, which is a breast, a wing, salsa and tortillas with choice of rice, beans, macaroni salad or refried beans. Combo No. 4 is a breast, wings, a thigh and a leg, No. 5 is one whole chicken, and No. 8 is two whole chickens. On Wednesday, buy a whole chicken and get a half chicken free. Other specials are 99-cent crispy tacos on Monday and three tacos with rice, beans and a drink on Friday for $5.99. Mexican specialties include hard-shell tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, tortas (beef, chicken, steak, veggie), Baja fish tacos made with cod, burritos, steak or chicken nachos, chilaquiles (chips, red or green sauce, cheese, sour cream, onion), taco salad with choice of meat, Latin salad with honey mustard dressing and ePollito salad with lettuce, carrots, cheese, corn, onions, tomatoes, grilled chicken and ranch dressing with nacho strips. Sundays are popular with menudo and tacos de barbacoa (sheep). Combos begin at $2.99, and crispy tacos start at $1.49. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Friday.
