Henderson has launched ourhenderson.com, which allows residents to learn anything from sustainability to how to lower utility bills.

The website features more than 100 cost-saving programs and suggestions.

The Citizen's Advisory Committee presented the information to the Henderson City Council at the June 21 meeting.

City COUNCIL FOR GOES RAISES

In a 5-0 vote at the June 21 meeting, the Henderson City Council decided to for go salary raises.

According to Kathy Blaha, a senior public information specialist with the city, the council was eligible for a 2.7 increase this year according to the consumer price index's specifications.

With budget cuts, a hiring freeze and continual employee buyout packages under way to save money, the council decided raises would not have been financially feasible.

Council members are paid $44,288 a year, plus benefits.

CHURCH INVITES COMMUNITY
TO KARAOKE NIGHT

First Henderson United Methodist Church is scheduled to host a karaoke night from 6 to 8 p.m. July 23 at the church, 609 E. Horizon Drive.

The event is open to all ages. Although the event is free, donations will be accepted to go toward building a new sanctuary. For more information, visit firsthendersonumc.org.

Nevada Camera Club SEMINAR
aims to TEACH PHOTOGRAPHY BASICS

Henderson Libraries is scheduled to host a class on photography from
3:45 to 5:45 p.m. July 14 at the Malcolm Library, 2960 Sunridge Heights Parkway.

The two-hour class, presented by the Nevada Camera Club, is free and open to the public.

Participants can get tips on basic photography. Registration is required and ends July 12.
