The Henderson Police Department is planning to host its National Night Out event from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St.

Annually, police departments around the country feature an event in partnership with civic groups, community organizations and local governments. In 2010, an estimated 36 million people nationwide attended National Night Out events.

The event is set to feature crime prevention information, members of specialized Henderson Police unit s, live entertainment and food.

PAIN AND FATIGUE to be DISCUSSED AT paseo verde library SEMINAR

A workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, is slated to discuss solutions to chronic pain and fatigue.

The free seminar plans to discuss new discoveries on the origins of pain and fatigue while discussing solutions.

PROGRAM ANALYzes SWIMMING STROKES

Henderson Parks and Recreation is offering recreational and competitive swimmers a chance to improve their technique with a swimming stroke analysis session from Aug. 1-30 at Heritage Park Aquatic Complex, 310 S. Racetrack Road.

Private sessions are available by appointment only from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Options include a 30-minute session for $40, or three 30-minute sessions for $100. The session is available to swimmers 4 and up.

PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS TO BE HONORED

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1753 is planning to host the seventh annual "Salute To Our Veterans" show from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 7 at the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The show plans to honor Purple Heart recipients and feature the Robbie Howard Band. Tickets are $15. For more information, call 797-8055.
