LIBRARY BOARD BRINGS BACK MONDAY HOURS AT PASEO VERDE

The Henderson Libraries Board approved expanding library branch hours starting Sept. 8. Changes include the return of Monday hours to the Paseo Verde Library, and expanding hours at the Green Valley and Gibson branches.

All Henderson Libraries have been closed Mondays for nearly two years due to lack of funding. Starting Sept. 8, the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

The Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, is scheduled to be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Gibson Library, 100 W. Lake Mead Parkway, is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Heritage Park Library, 300 S. Racetrack Road, hours will remain with self-service hours for seniors 50 or older from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Library staff are still set to be available at this location from 8 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

The Green Valley and Gibson branches will remain closed on Mondays, and all branches are closed on Sundays.

WORKSHOP TO OFFER TAX INSTRUCTION

The Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, plans a free federal taxes workshop from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. July 25. The event is set to cover paying taxes online. Registration is required.

BLOOD DRIVE SET FOR JULY 25

United Blood Services plans a blood drive from noon to 4:30 p.m. July 25 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway. Registration is required. To register, vist tinyurl.com/nc6n4a4.

LIBRARY TO OFFER BASIC COMPUTER SAFETY CLASS

A computer class is planned from 9:30 to 11 a.m. July 31 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway. The event is set to cover basic computer and internet safety. Participants must know how to complete basic Windows functions. Registration is required.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION EVENT PLANNED AUG. 2

The Southern Nevada Immunization Coalition plans a back-to-school immunization event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway. The event is set to cater to children who are: younger than 18, uninsured or underinsured, American Indian or Alaska Native or eligible for Medicaid or Nevada CheckUp.

JUNIOR MASTER GARDENER OPEN HOUSES SCHEDULED

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension plans two Junior Master Gardener open houses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at the LifeLong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road.

The Junior Master Gardener program is designed for children 7 to 12 and hosts classes from 9 a.m. to noon every other Saturday. Classes start Sept. 13 at the center and cost $52 for eight sessions.
