Homeless man who liked to dress as Santa hit, killed by vehicle

HUDSON, Fla. — A homeless man who liked to dress up as Santa Claus and wave to motorists was struck by a vehicle and killed.

Bay News 9 reports the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. They say 49-year-old James Kenneth Bryant was walking U.S. 19 around 9 p.m. when he was hit by a Toyota Avalon. He died at the scene.

Bryant had recently been dressing as Santa and waving to motorists.

Officials say Bryant was not wearing his Santa suit at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Toyota, 27-year-old Nicholas Giovinazzi of Wesley Chapel, was not injured. Officials said charges are pending.
