Land Rover aims to help animals

Land Rover Las Vegas is partnering with the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and holding a drive to collection donations of supplies for animals.

The donation drive runs through July 31.

With the economic environment in Nevada, thousands of animals that were once family pets suddenly find themselves without food, water and love. They are ending up on the streets or in shelters where, in some cases, they are euthanized due to the overwhelming numbers of them.

But there is hope. Nevada SPCA is a no-kill shelter. It provides food and shelter for the animals until they are adopted.

When it has extra space, SPCA staff will visit other shelters and take animals back to its facility to prevent them from being euthanized.

During its donation drive, Land Rover Las Vegas is asking area residents to drop off new bags or cans of dog and cat food, kitten formula, treats, toys, blankets, bleach (for the beds) and other items at its showroom at 5255 W. Sahara Ave.

To adopt a pet, visit the SPCA at 4800 W. Dewey Drive.
