Mother arrested after baby’s remains found in storage shed

A mother was arrested Saturday after the remains of her young son were found in a California storage shed.

The 8-month-old’s body was found in a storage shed near Fontana, Calif., KTLA reported. Sheriff’s department officials believe he died more than a year prior to the discovery.

The boy’s mother, 31-year-old Maria Torres, allegedly hid the boy’s body in the year after killing him, a police report said. She is also being investigated for taking money from a local church by saying the funds would be used for a burial.

Torres is being held without bail at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. The boy’s cause of death was not released.
